Candy Apple Red Floor
I’m an artist + painter specializing in one-of-a-kind hand-painted floors, murals + fresh coats for commercial + residential spaces. I also paint accent walls, kitchen backsplashes, and do countertop transformations with epoxy.

I love painting + my brushes are always ready!

Art Floors

A project with my signature is often a combination of elegance, whimsy and flair.

Each floor is a work of art and the result of meaningful consultation with clients to understand their inspirations, their preferences and their space. This exciting collaboration is the kernel of a Lee Romberg original.

”Floors are an incredibly undervalued feature of any building…

…from houses to ornate cathedrals. When entering a room, people generally direct their gaze to the ground and the floors will be the first thing they notice. A certain few have devoted their lives to creating beautiful, intricate floor designs, many of which go underappreciated by those who regard floors purely for their function, not for their grandeur. Amongst the Great Works, however, you will find a few designs which are unavoidable in their artistry; some that are truly mind-blowing.”

Movie Quote Floor

The very first floor. It has over 500 quotes from movies throughout history.

Back in 2013, Stranger Things’ Matthew Modine tweeted his quote from the ’80s film, Birdy,

in which he played the lead character of the same name.

Residential + Commercial

when all it needs is a
fresh coat

In addition to one-of-a-kind art floors and murals, I also do traditional painting for homes and businesses. Once we’ve determined the palette, I’ll coat your space with care, precision and the bonus of my keen artist’s eye. And it’ll be done right the first time to avoid “redo” costs down the road.

Here are some recently completed interior and exterior painting projects:

Mercer St Condo | Toronto

This Toronto condo was in rough shape. Many walls had scuffs, stains and holes. During construction, the drywall installer did a poor job at the taping stage and left an a noticeable raised seam from floor to ceiling. All fixed now and looking amazing with a simple and fresh warm white.

Exterior Refresh | North York

This wooden garage suffered years of weather and elements, leading to faded, peeling paint. The homeowners were selling and their realtor put them in touch to improve curb appeal. We did a subtle colour variance on some of the rectangles to create some interesting depth. The house was listed and sold the next day. And this old-but-solid garage door has a new lease on life!

Proper surface prep is often the difference between “done right” and “done twice”. During this process, the crew uses Festool’s sanding and dust collection system. Dust-free is like a dream—especially when it comes to hardwood flooring!

Process

It begins with consultation with clients. I will quickly come to understand the room, its surroundings and the surface or floor’s relationship to each.

Consultation becomes collaboration as concepts are created based on the client’s inspirations as they merge with mine. Whether the look is of refined elegance, a bold statement piece or somewhere in between, the aim is to achieve harmony with the space and palette, while remaining mindful that an art floor offers the opportunity to let the imagination run. Ultimately, there are no rules!

In cases where a designer is involved, I can interface at most stages of a project: either in-progress or still in the planning stage.

Finishes vary, but the floor is sealed—usually with luxurious epoxy—giving lasting durability and protection of the art itself.
